Receipts
Scan a receipt into a category.
Photograph a receipt and Expensy reads the merchant, date, total, and category. You review it before it is confirmed.
What the photo becomes
A successful read stores the merchant, the date, the total, and one category. The photo stays with the receipt so you can check it. If the read fails, nothing is counted against the monthly allowance.
Categories
Every receipt lands in one of these categories. You can change the category before or after you confirm the receipt.
- Meals & Entertainment
- Travel
- Lodging
- Ground Transportation
- Fuel
- Office Supplies
- Software & Subscriptions
- Professional Services
- Mileage

Review, then confirm
A parsed receipt waits in Needs review. You can correct the merchant, date, total, and category, then confirm it. Those details stay editable after confirmation. Only the person who added it can export it.
What counts as a scan
A scan counts only after a receipt parses successfully. A failed parse consumes zero. Free resets on the calendar month: 30 scans. Pro is 300 a month, and Teams is 500 for each person. Paid allowances follow the Stripe billing period. Teams scans belong to each person. They are not pooled.
QuickBooks
Confirmed receipts on Pro or Teams can be sent to QuickBooks. Free does not include export. The connection and the category mapping are described on the QuickBooks page.
